Are 50 or 60 Hz models available in Sioux products?
Yes, each product line offers both 50 or 60 Hz models. Models numbers will be differnt depending upon which version is selected.
Do the Sioux steam cleaners produce a dry steam or a saturated steam?
Sioux steam cleaners produce a saturated steam with approximately a 85% water 15% steam ratio.
Can a Sioux steam cleaner be used to remove oil and grease from heavy equipment?
Yes, a Sioux steam cleaner is the preferred unit to remove oil and grease from most equipment because the high temperature of the steam melts any oil and grease while the water moves the residue off of the surface.
Can a Sioux steam cleaner be used for the remove mud and dirt from heavy equipment?
Yes, a Sioux steam cleaner can be used for the removal of mud and dirt, but a hot pressure washer or a combination hot pressure washer/steam cleaner unit may be more suitable.  Ask your Sioux sales representative for more specifics on your application.
What units can be used in hazardous locations?
Any Sioux EN Series all-electric pressure washer or steam cleaner or any electric motor driven cold water washer can be designed to be explosion-proof.
How can you tell if a unit is explosion proof?
Explosion-proof units will have a XP at the end of the model number.
Can I use a Dakota II steam cleaner or pressure washer in an explosion-proof area?
No, because the unit has an open flame in the combustion chamber from burning the fuel these units are not suitable for hazardous locations. The EN Series units with the XP in the model number are designed for applications in hazardous locations.
Can I operate an all-electric hot water or steam unit on 1 phase power?
Because the all-electric units are using electric heating elemnets to heat the water and this method requires more power than a unit using fossil fuel, 3 phase power is required for these units.
Do Sioux's all-electric pressure washers or steam cleaners require the units to be preheated before they can be used?
No, Sioux uses properly sized immersion heating elements that provide for instantenous and continuous heat without the need for preheating.
Do Sioux's all-electric pressure washers or steam cleaners use large holding tank and heat transfer fluid for heating the water?
No, Sioux uses properly sized immersion heating elements that provide for instantaneous and continuous heat without the need for preheating.
After prolonged use will the outlet temperature of Sioux's all-electric hot pressure washers or steam cleaners decrease?
No, Sioux uses properly sized immersion heating elements that provide for instantaneous and continous heat regardless of how long the unit operates.
What is the difference in the operating current amps for a unit operating on 240 volt versus 480 volt?
The operating current would be twice as much on a unit operating on 240 volt versus 480 volt.
Does the Sioux SafeSteam produce a dry steam?
No, it is a saturated steam which produces about 2.8 GPM (10.6 LPM).
What is the outlet temperature of the Sioux SafeSteam?
The outlet temperature is dependent on the steam input temperature and pressure. Sioux can estimate the outlet temperature based on your in-plant steam specifications.
Can you use detergents with the Sioux SafeSteam?
Yes, the unit comes with detergent metering and a bracket for a 5 gallon (18.9 liter) bucket of detergent.
Does the Sioux SafeSteam come with a steam gun?
No, steam guns must be purchased separately.
What are the minimum requirements to run a Sioux SafeSteam?
Steam line requirement: 300 lb/hr of steam @ 80-150 psi (136kg/hr @ 5.52-10.34 bar). Water supply requirement: 3.0 gpm cold water @ 15 to 100 psi (11.35 lpm @ 1- 6.9 bar).
